This Artifact tested us on different categories: our ability to tell stories, our oral presentation, our technological adaptiveness, and on a subtle level - our connection with our university. We had to prepare a 7-10 minute podcast narrating our connection with Georgia Tech. Our instructor encouraged us to look at a micro-level for this project - convey little, yet significant anecdotes rather than zoomed out stories that lack details and depth.
Goals:
- Evaluating the conventions of podcasts

- Working with audio software
- Developing oratory skills
My purpose was to convey my connection with Georgia Tech as an international student. I emphasized the lack of tactile connection with the university as well as the impact that the GT community can have on a student even through virtual interactions.
I talked about my I-20 being my only tactile connection. I also spoke about the Admissions blog, the news about Georgia Tech football, sang the Rambling Wreck song, and addressed my fears and vulnerabilities to build a holistic picture. I chose a mild, fairly upbeat background music which had to be turned down during the melancholic parts of the podcast. This, however, affected the seamlessness of the experience.
My intended audience is anyone, really. I have publicly hosted the podcast on YouTube. The spoken language is English. The content would be relatable to students amid the pandemic, especially those who are international. I created an animated logo to complement the affordance of YouTube.
If I had time for revision, I would try to address the issue of abrupt changes in the timbre of voice. This problem arose because I recorded the audio in segments with large time intervals.
