Maker Spaces on Campus!

Maker spaces on campus are open-access resources for students to explore, create, discover, and

play. Many maker spaces exist across campus, but the 5 hosted by the College of Engineering are

open to all students on campus. These spaces have wood shops, metal shops, 3-D printers, laser

cutters, sewing machines, craft stations, microscopes, mechanical and electrical testing, and so

much more! You can go in to explore, try out equipment, or even be a part of a student-led team!

Join a community of students that are passionate about building, inventing, and exploring the world

in an unstructured setting -- all for FREE!

Maker Spaces Within the College of Engineering (Open to ALL students on campus):

The Flowers Invention Studio (https://inventionstudio.gatech.edu/) - Flowers Building (Mechanical Engineering)

The Invention Studio is a student-run organization located in the Flowers Invention Studio. Supporting ALL students, staff, and faculty in building their dream project, whether it’s for research, personal or academic usage. 3D printers, craft land, electronics, lasers, metal room, water jet, welding, wood room, CNC, CAE, and more!

The HIVE Makerspace (https://hive.ece.gatech.edu/) - Interdisciplinary Design Commons (Electrical Engineering)

The Interdisciplinary Design Commons (the Hive Makerspace), provides the Georgia Tech community with accessible engineering space and resources to bring ideas to life in a non-traditional classroom setting with a focus on electronics. 3D printers, electronics, lasers, metal room, water jet, welding, wood room, plasma cutter, PCB Fabrication, and more!

The Materials Innovation and Learning Lab (The MILL) (https://mill.mse.gatech.edu/) Love Manufacturing Building (Materials Science and Engineering)

An open-access space for all students from across campus to make materials, characterize their chemistry and structure, and measure their properties. The MILL provides students access to a variety of analytical equipment including electron microscopes, optical microscopes, mechanical testers, FTIR spectrometers, UV/Vis spectrometers, X-ray diffractometers, thermogravimetric analysis, and water contact angle, as well as equipment to make materials including multi-material 3D printers, extruders, furnaces, screen printers, and more.

Aero Maker Space (https://ams.gatech.edu/) – Weber Building (Aerospace Engineering)

The Aero Maker Space is a prototyping and machining space that is accessible to the entire Georgia Tech community.

The space has laser cutters, 3D printers, a wood shop, and electronics prototyping.

The BME Design Shop (https://bme.gatech.edu/bme/bme-design-shop) – (Biomedical Engineering)

The BME Design shop has laser cutters, CNC MILLs, 3D printers, resin casting, and

manual lathes.
