The Georgia Tech Library has extensive collections of e-resources. If you want to add an e-resource to your class, use the permanent linking function found in our catalog. Selecting the permanent link option will allow you to copy the persistent catalog link to your clipboard, which you can then paste into Canvas. This link will take your student to the catalog entry for this item and prompt them to authenticate for access. Authentication ensures that copyright guidelines, to which we must adhere, are being followed.

Not all journal articles can be found in the library catalog, though they will be available through journal websites or databases. Most of these have permanent linking options, although Web of Science is a notable exception. There are two ways to help the authentication process with direct links to the journal website or database.

1) Ask students to use a VPN when trying access e-resources provided through library subscriptions.

2) Ask students to log into their library account using their Georgia Tech credentials before navigating to journal websites or database links. It is more effective if they consistently use the same browser window rather than opening multiple tabs.

Many students will have to navigate the OpenAthens authentication service for the first time. The video below shows how to use the service.
