Checking the Accessibility of your Content
Ally Accessibility Tool
Ally provides detailed insight and guidance to instructors on how to improve the accessibility of their content, automatically checks for common accessibility issues, and provides course-wide reporting Links to an external site. on the accessibility of content to help instructors efficiently prioritize and tackle problems. Additionally, Ally automatically creates alternative versions of making digital course content, allowing students the option to choose the type of file that best suits their needs.
Accessibility score indicators
Ally measures the accessibility of each file attached to an instructor’s course and shows at-a-glance how it scores. Scores range from Low to Perfect. Higher scores mean fewer issues.
Low (0-33%): Needs help! There are severe accessibility issues.
Medium (34-66%): A little better. The file is somewhat accessible and needs improvement.
High (67-99%): Almost there. The file is accessible but more improvements are possible.
Perfect (100%): Perfect! Ally didn't identify any accessibility issues but further improvements may still be possible.
For files with Low to High scores, Ally provides the instructor a step-by-step guide on how to fix them.
Alternative Formats for Students
Ally creates alternative formats (e.g., tagged PDFs, HTML, ePub, electronic braille, audio, and translated versions of documents) for digital course content. Students can download the alternative formats anywhere Ally's alternative formats download icon is displayed.
